Metta World Peace Nearing A Deal To Play In China

After an extremely short stint with the New York Knicks, Metta World Peace is a free agent with no intentions to retire. World Peace made it clear that he wants to continue playing, but unfortunately there doesn’t appear to be enough interest from NBA teams this summer.

With no teams willing to roll the dice on the veteran forward, the one-time NBA champion appears to be ready to take his talents to China, according to Ian Begley of ESPN New York:

Hearing: ex-Knick Metta World Peace is close to agreeing to terms with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association.

Interestingly enough, the Los Angeles Lakers are sorely lacking at the small forward position. World Peace didn’t rule out a return to the Lakers and showed interest in heading back to New York or signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, but it doesn’t appear that anything came to fruition.

In 29 games with the Knicks last season, World Peace averaged career-low numbers across the board. It was clear that World Peace was still dealing with knee issues and ultimately agreed to a buyout.

At 34-years-old, World Peace heading into the twilight of his playing career and coming off a knee injury is helping things. It remains to be seen if the veteran forward is truly headed to China or ultimately signs with an NBA team, but one thing is abundantly clear, he intends to continue playing professionally.
