Metta World Peace Wants Kobe Bryant to Keep Tweeting During Games

Metta World PeaceAfter all the hoopla surrounding Kobe Bryant and his tweet game, it was announced (first by Bryant’s publicist and then by himself) that he wouldn’t be tweeting during games anymore because it caused too much of a distraction.

While that might sit well with Mike D’Antoni, some of Kobe’s teammates – okay one of Kobe’s teammates – wants to see Bryant continue to tweet during his teammates’ games.

That player is Metta World Peace, who spoke to reporters on Tuesday in San Antonio.

“Kobe should tweet for Game 2 the whole time, every possession,” Metta World Peace said after practice Tuesday. “Critique us, criticize us, chew us out. I’ll tweet him back. I’ll direct message him.”

I guess it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise that World Peace said this. After all, he was on Twitter long before Bryant. In fact, he was on Twitter before even joining the Lakers. But there’s no question his lighthearted approach to the situation helps keep the tension down after an incident where D’Antoni referred to Bryant as “a fan” and nothing more.

Still, while Ron Ron may want Kobe to continue tweeting, it’s not going to happen during games anymore, so he’ll have to make do with someone else’s 140-character thoughts.

The Lakers face the Spurs in Game 2 in San Antonio tonight with Kobe off Twitter. But not because Ron thinks it’s a distraction.

“I’m much more of a distraction than Kobe.”

Well, at least he’s always having fun.
