Mitch Kupchak On Nba Free Agency, Coaching Staff, Draft, Young Core (videos)

Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak addressed the media after the season on a variety of topics ranging from the NBA draft and free agency to the coaching situation and evaluating young talent, which can all be watched in the videos below.

Many are concerned about whether Byron Scott is the right fit as head coach of this team, and Kupchak assesses the job that he’s done this past season.

After striking out on free agents the past two seasons, Kupchak also discusses how the pitch is different now, without Kobe Bryant, admitting the difficulties the Lakers have had the past couple years. Plus, now that the Lakers have finished with the worst record in the Western conference and second worst in the league, the probability has increased that they could keep their top-3 protected draft pick this summer.

Kupchak comments on the 2016 NBA draft class and whether trading that pick, if they do indeed keep it, is an option. Speaking of trading the pick, the subject also arises with whether trading away any of the pieces of the young core is an option. Lastly, Kupchak evaluates D’Angelo Russell, Nick Young, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance, Jr. and Julius Randle.
