Steve Nash

Before the 2014-15 NBA season even started, expected Los Angeles Lakers starting point guard Steve Nash was ruled out for the season. Since then, Nash has rarely been around the team leading many to wonder if he will ever be around as he could mentor the young players on the roster.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak, however, says that he meets with Nash once a month and the future Hall of Famer will be around to work with the young players according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:

Mitch Kupchak said Steve Nash has been around, that he meets with him once a month and Nash will increasingly work with LAL's young players.

This is definitely a good sign for the Lakers and their young players. Nash is one of the smartest players in the league and him sharing that knowledge with young prospects like Jordan Clarkson and Tarik Black will only make them better.

Even though Nash can’t play, he can still do plenty to help the team this season and in the future. Clarkson in particular has a lot to learn about playing the point guard position and Nash would be an ideal teacher.

Clarkson has already been contacting Nash throughout the season and continuing to do so will definitely help his growth. Black and Ed Davis could also benefit from picking the brain of Nash and if he is around more, that becomes a positive for the entire team.
