NBA and Players Union Will Meet Today Prior to Deadline

When it seemed all hope was lost and the NBA made it clear that they will not meet with the players until they accepted a 50-50 BRI split, a miracle struck the basketball world. The sides have agreed to gather one more time in New York before the Monday deadline in hopes of saving the first two weeks of the regular season, according to a person briefed on the session.

Those attending the meeting on the league side will be NBA Commissioner David Stern and Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver; President Derek Fisher and Chief Billy Hunter will be representing the players union.

NBA fans were not sure the season would start on time based on the reports from yesterday. At that point no meetings were scheduled and it was clear the owners were not willing to give the players a BRI of over 50%. However, this recent update shows that the sides are determined to sign a new CBA by Monday.

The league and union will likely discuss the revenue split in this meeting, the main topic of debate during these talks. All NBA fans must wait and pray that the sides agree to a new deal which will assure a full regular season.
