NBA and Players Union Will Meet Tuesday

The NBA and players union are expected to continue labor talks tomorrow in New York City. The sides had gathered last Thursday, but all indications pointed to a very unsuccessful session. The NBA later postponed the start of training camps and canceled the league’s first 43 games. Fans and analyst became uneasy and it seemed as though the opening of the regular season was in jeopardy.

Fortunately, the parties have agreed to meet again in hopes of signing a new CBA to end the work stoppage.  If things go well tomorrow in New York City, the league and union may have a follow up session on Wednesday. There must be major progress in the next two days or else fans will not be able to see a full NBA season. With a religious holiday coming up shortly, time is ticking for a new collective bargaining agreement.

CBS Sports: “Tuesday and Wednesday represent the last opportunities to bargain this week with several key members of both sides’ negotiating teams observing Rosh Hashanah on Thursday and Friday.”

The only way to end the work stoppage is to schedule meetings and take into consideration the other’s proposal. The league and union may have two radical viewpoints, but at least they are willing to settle their differences.
