The Los Angeles Lakers went a perfect 3-0 on their homestand and now begin a short road trip with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs that also coincides with beginning their defense of the Emirates NBA Cup Championship.
San Antonio also is on a modest winning streak, taking their last two games at home and three of four overall. They are without head coach Gregg Popovich for the foreseeable future as he recovers from a mild stroke.
The Lakers are in West Group B along with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Spurs. Group play for the Emirates NBA Cup began on Nov. 12 and will continue on Tuesdays and Fridays for five weeks.
