Lost in all of the talk about where Carmelo Anthony will sign is the fact that LeBron James could also become a serious possibility for some teams in free agency.

Originally believed to just be returning to Miami, questions have continued to fly around the four-time MVP. The Lakers flew to meet his agent last week and now the team along with many others are awaiting word on whether James will attend free agency meetings this week according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski:

Anthony was originally believed to be the more likely to leave his current situation, but as free agency has continued, rumors began to circulate that James was more likely to leave, especially if the Miami Heat were unable to re-tool their roster.

James’ agent, Rich Paul has already met with representatives from the Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and Phoenix Suns, but James himself was not present. If there are another round of meetings with James there, it only increases the chances of LeBron changing addresses.

The Lakers have already proven how good they can be with a meeting, going from a team unlikely to land Carmelo Anthony to arguably the Knicks’ biggest threat at taking him away.

With Pau Gasol likely to re-sign with the team if either James or Anthony comes aboard, the Lakers will quickly turn themselves into one of the teams to watch in the NBA and make their hopes of a quick rebuild a reality.
