Dwight HowardThe Dwightmare is has officially come to its much awaited end and it has ended the way that we all expected it to. It is now official, Dwight Howard will sign with the Houston Rockets. Howard will sign a max deal for four years and approximately $88 million.

According to Chris Broussard, Dwight will sign his contract on July 10 when all free agents are allowed too.

The Rockets entered the  free agency period as the front-runner to land Dwight and will exit free agency as the front-runner. Howard met with not only the Rockets but also; the Golden State Warriors, the Atlanta Hawks, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Dwight came to the Lakers excited to finally be in a big market where his personality can shine both on and off the court, but now he has come to realize that he cannot handle the pressure of being under the bright lights. What the Lakers got out of Dwight was a child running around trying to decide what amusement park he would go to on his off days.

The Lakers will be moving into next season with a team that does not seem to one that will compete on a high level especially with Kobe Bryant missing the first couple months of the season and not a whole lot of salary cap space to spend on other free agents.

Laker fans will be sad that they only got one year of the child with all the tools in the world to become one of the best centers of all time but instead was only worrying about smiling and not winning. But now the Lakers will have an enormous amount of cap space for the great free agent class of 2014. So Laker fans should thank Howard for giving the best general manager in the NBA that much room to work with next off-season.

So thank you Dwight for giving us a year of his services, but now please leave and do not come back, the Lakers will be just fine without you. The Lakers will win more titles in five years than you will with Houston. Have a safe travel.

UPDATE at 3:36 p.m. according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:
