If the Lakers were hoping it would be the Houston Rockets they were going to catch for that final playoff spot that task just got more difficult. It might be time for the Lakers to start hoping the Warriors or Jazz are the ones that fall from grace, as Houston just beefed up it’s backcourt a little more by acquiring free agent guard Aaron Brooks.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Houston and Brooks officially reached an agreement.

Brooks’ deal with Rockets includes a team option for next season, sources tell Y!

Brooks, who most recently played for the Sacramento Kings, will join a young Houston backcourt that includes Jeremy Lin and James Harden, and should provide a spark off the bench.

Worse yet for Los Angeles, Brooks is a player that historically plays well against the Lakers. He averages 15.7 points, 1.9 boards and 4.7 assists in each game against the Laker. The only team he averages more points against in the league is the Phoenix Suns, who had someone named Steve Nash as their point guard. That’s not going to be good for business.
