NBA News: Olympic Teammates Urging Kevin Durant to Shoot More

Although Team USA has been plagued with injuries in these 2012 Olympics, the talent level on this squad is still remarkable. The Americans still have players like Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and the emerging superstar Kevin Durant. Durant has won the NBA scoring title for the past three seasons, but his teammates believe he is not shooting enough.

It may be hard at times to play on such a skillful team since players may have a tendency to overpass the ball. However, the USA players would like Durant to shoot the ball whenever he gets it. Durant has been a top scorer for USA so far in these games, but his colleagues want him to score more, Slam Magazine.

“When Kobe Bryant was asked what he said to Durant during the game, Bryant replied gruffly: “Shoot the … ball.” Said Durant: “Sometimes coach was screaming at me. And Chris Paul was screaming at me more than anybody, ‘Shoot the ball!’ I guess I’ve got to be aggressive.”

Durant scored 22 points in Team USA’s first Olympic game in group play against France, but as the young star on the team, more is expected. Durant can use his speed and length to get into the paint, and then he has an outside game which no one can guard. Not many teams have the ability to match Durant’s effectiveness, thus it is imperative for him to be as aggressive as possible.
