Kevin Love has been one of the most talked about players over the past few weeks despite not making the playoffs. All signs have pointed to Love wanting out of Minnesota. With Love becoming a free agent after next season, many believe that the Timberwolves will be forced to trade the star forward or risk losing him for nothing next off-season.

Despite this possibility, the Timberwolves have continued to say that the team will not trade Kevin Love, and according to the Minnesota Star-Tribune’s Jerry Zgoda, team president Flip Saunders still plans on Love being in Minnesota:

More Flip: "I know there's a feeding frenzy out there from a lot of teams, unfortunately they have no say. I plan on Kevin being here"

— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) June 1, 2014

Love has made no secrets about his wish to be in the playoffs, which he has yet to do in his first six seasons with the team. The Timberwolves are surely hoping to make some moves and show Love that he can succeed in Minnesota, but they could be taking a huge risk in doing so.

The fact that there is a ‘feeding frenzy’ going on for Love right now shows how much teams value the All-Star power forward. There have been a number of teams believed to have interest in Love including the Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Washington Wizards, and Sacramento Kings.

The more teams bidding for Love, the more the price will rise in order to pry him away from Minnesota, which doesn’t bode well for the Lakers who don’t have much to offer. Saunders may intend on keeping Love with the team, but if the team struggles early and the right deal comes along, he may need to pull the trigger on a trade.
