During the 2010-11 NBA season, the Chicago Bulls were on the top of the NBA world once again. Derrick Rose emerged as a legitimate superstar while leading the Chicago Bulls to the best record in the league at 62-20.

Along with sporting the top seed in the Eastern Conference in the playoffs, Rose earn MVP honors beating out LeBron James. Chicago appeared to be back on the rise with a new face of the franchise, but the Bulls dominance was short-lived with Rose going from being the best point guard in the league to perennially injured superstar.

Only four years after being named NBA MVP, the Bulls would trade Rose if they could, according to Joe Cowley of Chicago Sun-Times via Bleacher Report:

Coming into the 2014-15 NBA season, the Bulls were considered to be one of the best teams in basketball once again. Rose was ready to get back on the floor and Chicago had added a two-time NBA champion in the mix with the free-agent signing of Pau Gasol.

Along with Gasol, the Bulls were able to draft a promising player in Nikola Mirotic and saw Jimmy Butler develop into an All-Star. Unfortunately, Rose’s knee problems continue to haunt him with the star guard having to undergo surgery once again on Feb. 27 for a torn medial meniscus.

Although Rose is recovering from yet another knee surgery, all signs point to his return to the lineup heading into the playoffs. Even though he’ll likely be back on the floor this season, Rose’s best years could be behind him with the Bulls potentially looking for trade suitors or a way to part company.

Trading Rose will prove to be difficult for the Bulls with two more years on his current contract. Rose is owed more than $20 million next season and $21.3 million in 2016-17.
