After suffering a devastating loss to Kevin Love’s Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Lakers were able to bounce back with a vengeance on Sunday night beating the Phoenix Suns in convincing fashion at the Staples Center.

Following the win over their division rivals, Nick Young spoke to the media saying the following about the impressive victory according to ESPN’s J.A. Adande:

Nick Young on hurting PHX playoff chances: "Welcome to the Player Haters Ball…we tryin to hate, hate, hate hate…"

— J.A. Adande (@jadande) March 31, 2014

With the Lakers already knocked out of playoff contention and basically focusing on the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft, the team seemed to lack motivation until Young came out and said they should concentrate on being playoff spoilers.

It appears that Young’s comments may have given the Lakers extra motivation tonight to beat the Suns who are currently battling for playoff position with the Memphis Grizzlies and Dallas Mavericks.

With nine games left in the regular season, the Lakers will have a few more chances to play playoff spoiler. The Lakers will face seven potential playoff teams in the last nine games with matchups against the Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs in that order.
