On Monday against the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers were swept in the season series and suffered their fifth consecutive loss. With the 30th loss of the season and 12.5 games back from the eighth seed in the Western Conference, the Lakers are headed to the lottery.

With most looking forward to the 2015 off-season at this point in the season, Nick Young wants to help the Lakers in free agency pitches. During the game against the Suns, Young had a message to Dragic and plans on talking to Marc Gasol and Kevin Love according to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:

“I told Goran Dragic on the court, ‘You might be my teammate next year.’” Young told the L.A. News Group shortly after the Lakers’ loss on Monday to the Phoenix Suns. “I’ll talk to Marc (Gasol.) Me and him are cool. Kevin Love, I’ll talk to him.”

Heading into the off-season, this is perhaps the most important one in recent memory. After being unable to sign big-name free agents like LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony last off-season, the Lakers will have another opportunity with a projected $30 million in cap space to go along with a potential top-five pick in this year’s NBA Draft.

Despite the losing in his first two seasons, Young has enjoyed his time as a member of the Lakers and should be a solid addition to the team’s pitch meetings moving forward. While Marc Gasol and Kevin Love are expected to stay with their teams, there are numerous free agents that could help the Lakers rebuild themselves into contenders.
