Pau Gasol to Practice with FC Barcelona During NBA Lockout

After leading Spain to a EuroBasket title this summer Pau Gasol will continue to play in his home country as the NBA lockout continues.

Pau and his brother Marc will both continue to workout with his former Spanish team, FC Barcelona, as long as the NBA lockout continues. Gasol hasn’t made an official commitment to any team or league during the lockout, but will continue to workout with them as long as the Lakers aren’t playing.

On his Twitter account, Gasol stated his desire to remain with FC Barcelona and help the club improve while working on his own game;

“For me @FCBarcelona is the best team in Europe, @MarcGasol and I are here to contribute even more to a group which is already excellent.”

As long as the NBA is locked out it will be critical for its players to remain in shape to be prepared for the season if and when it ultimately begins. Playing overseas has already helped Gasol this summer, and should continue to be a productive way to stay in shape for the duration of the lockout.

Thanks to Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times for the story.
