Philadelphia and Kobe Bryant Share a Unique Relationship

Tonight, Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers make their lone visit to Philadelphia to play the Sixers. This game carries extra importance for Kobe as he will return to the city that made him the player he is today. However, his hometown does not fully support perhaps the greatest basketball player to ever walk its streets.

Kobe Bryant is perceived as arrogant by many people living in Philadelphia. Although he is an active member of the community and has given a lot back to Lower Merion High School, the relationship between Bryant and Philadelphia is sour to say the least.

Even though Bryant gets the boos every time he touches the ball in games, he uses that hatred for motivation. Kobe could get down on himself and feel sorry, but instead he uses that anger to improve his game.

Kobe Bryant could make NBA history in tonight’s game by passing Shaquille O’Neal for fifth on the NBA’s scoring list, and it will be interesting to see how Philadelphia reacts to their hometown player setting another record.
