While both the Lakers and Clippers seasons have ended, one tenant of the Staples Center continues to host big time games with sellout crowds — the Los Angeles Kings.

Everyone seems to be getting in Kings fever, and the statues of Lakers legends Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar were draped in Kings black before Game 2 according to the Chicago Sun Times’ Mark Lazerus:

After the Kings’ double-overtime victory in Game 2, they are now two wins away from hoisting Lord Stanley’s Cup for the second time in three seasons. Standing in their way is the New York Rangers, so this isn’t just between the teams — it’s a battle of the two glamour cities in America.

When New York and Los Angeles go head-to-head, the stars come out. Kareem proudly represents LA, while baseball legend Mariano Rivera reps NY in this picture tweeted out by Kareem himself:

It’s always great when Los Angeles and New York are battling for supremacy in anything. Hopefully the Kings will come out on top, and Kareem can be there to celebrate with them.
