One-time NBA champion Metta World Peace has agreed to sign with a team in China after receiving little interest from NBA teams.

Shortly after announcing he’ll be headed to China, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward made another announcement. World Peace will apparently be changing his name to The Panda’s Friend.

World Peace recently made an another appearance at the Venice Basketball League (VBL) wearing a Panda costume, according to a tweet from Richie Schueler of ESPN:

Yes, The Pandas Friend, aka @MettaWorldPeace has made his appearance at the @VENICEBALL LEAGUE today. Wow lol… pic.twitter.com/flp8gXkBWs

World Peace agreed to a one-year deal with Sichuan Blue Whales in China earlier this month. There was talk of the veteran forward showing interest in returning to Los Angeles to play for the Lakers or the Clippers, but nothing came to fruition.

Although World Peace will be headed overseas, the 34-year-old will more than likely keep the fans in China entertained with his passion play on basketball floor and hilarious antics off the court.
