With the Lakers season seemingly on the line every single night, Kobe Bryant delivered arguably his best performance of the season last night in Portland.

Bryant finished the night with 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and four blocked shots. While the stats are eye-popping, the fact that Kobe played all 48 minutes makes the feat that much more impressive.
Today, we polled Lakers Nation and asked whether or not they thought last night was Kobe’s best performance yet. Here are the results:
In the poll, 66 percent believed that last night was Kobe’s best performance because he had so many steals and blocks rather than just scoring and making plays. If the Lakers are going to make the playoffs they’ll need Bryant to continue to play at a high level and hope he doesn’t run out of gas.
The 34 percent that voted no thought that Kobe’s performances in New Orleans and at home against the Raptors were better. In those games, Kobe willed the Lakers back from double-digit deficits late in the fourth quarter, whereas last night Bryant kept the Lakers afloat with timely shots and passes to Pau and Dwight Howard.
If the Lakers are going to make the playoffs, Kobe is going to be the reason why. Without Nash in the lineup, Kobe has taken it upon himself to facilitate, score, play defense while not sitting out a single minute.
As long as the Lakers have a chance to make the playoffs and they enter tomorrow night’s game a full game ahead of the Utah Jazz for the eighth seed, expect similar performances from Bryant nightly.
