Rick Barry On ‘Pathetic’ Free Throws, Respect For Kobe Bryant (Video)

Lakers Nation caught up with Rick Barry, 1975 NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP, most remembered for his unique underhanded free throw technique (also known as “granny style”) which had him converting 90 percent from the charity stripe in his 14-year pro career.

— What will Kobe Bryant make this season? Find out here! —

Barry doesn’t hold back when talking about the “pathetic” and “embarrassing” free throw shooting in the NBA, mentioning current players like DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard, and Andre Iguodala. (Keep your eye out for Jordan, who actually coincidentally walks directly behind Barry as he’s talking about him). Plus, Barry takes it back to the days of Shaquille O’Neal and remembers a story about one of Shaq’s trainers who claimed that he attempted, unsuccessfully, the underhand technique with the big man.

Barry also comments on Kobe Bryant and explains why he respects and admires him so much. It’s all in our video above.
