After much speculation and debate on when Ron Artest would officially become the artist formerly known as Ron Artest, it appears as if that day has finally come.
According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, Artest has finally officially changed his name to Metta World Peace. There was a brief hearing today, that Artest was not present for, where the judge granted the motion to legally change his name.
Artest originally tried to change his name last month but was held up because of some unpaid parking tickets on his record. After dealing with that it appears as if Peace has been restored to the Artest household.
During the lockout Artest has signed on to participate in the latest season of Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
