At 17-24 and 15 wins behind the Pacific Division leaders, everyone is well aware that the Lakers are running out of time. In fact, it might already be too late. However, one thing that Mike D’Antoni has done this season is continually make changes, alter the starting rotation, and switch up the offense. The changes may not be working so far, but this morning Mike D’Antoni surprised reporters, including Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, with a much longer than normal shootaround.

Here’s a first: Lakers shoot-around going *longer* than expected under D’Antoni.

D’Antoni is known for his brief shootarounds, but this morning was yet another example of modification, and he wasn’t the only one with that mentality. Ever heard of the saying ‘If it’s not broke, don’t fix it?’ Well, that saying does not apply to the purple and gold, and Dwight Howard has again vowed for change, according to quotes tweeted by L.A. Daily News reporter Mark Medina.

Dwight Howard faulted himself and said it was “immature” to complain about FG attempts against Chicago. He said he’s improve his defense

After the Lakers last loss to the Chicago Bulls Monday night, Dwight Howard was quick to complain about his touches, as his shot attempts (5) were nearly nonexistent. But, Howard is hoping to turn a new page, compartmentalize the frustration, and once again, attempt the start of a new season tonight against the Memphis Grizzlies. As tweeted by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin,

Dwight Howard: “I think this will be the start of a new season tonight. Our effort and energy will be better. It starts with me”

— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) January 23, 2013

And so, the Lakers will try to start the season fresh tonight against the Memphis Grizzles. But, even if the Lakers show us a new side tonight, it could possibly already be too late. The Lakers take on the Memphis Grizzlies tonight at FedEx Forum at 5:00pm PST.
