Tex Winter to be Inducted into Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame

According to the Chicago Tribune former Lakers’ assistant coach and architect of the triangle offense Tex Winter will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. Winter’s offense helped Phil Jackson win eleven championships and has him on the verge of a twelfth.

This is a long-awaited achievement for Winter and everyone who knows him. His omission from the Hall of Fame has been widely discussed over the last several years. It even had Los Angeles superstar Kobe Bryant state that Winter not being in the Hall was ‘the dumbest (thing) I ever heard.’

There is no doubt that Winter has been instrumental in the construction of the modern age of basketball. Without Winter’s influence there is little question that the history books would read a lot differently than they currently do.
