The 2024 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled for Sunday, February 18. The 73rd All-Star game will be held in Indianapolis at the 18,000-capacity Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers. Teams will be divided between the Eastern Conference and Western Conference for the first time since 2017, and the teams can earn their chosen charities money by scoring the most points per quarter.
Lakers fans will hope to see a few familiar faces when the teams are announced on January 25th, following the fan vote. As well as the match, fans can bet on the Dunk, Skills, and 3-Point contests. While sports betting is prohibited in California, Lakers fans can still back their favorites by following this guide to gambling online in California.
LeBron James
Would it be an NBA All-Stars game without LeBron James? In a season that has seen one of the greatest-ever NBA legends break another scoring record and clinch the inaugural In-Season Tournament MVP, it would be nothing short of a travesty if James missed the game.
The All-Star game selection should never be dictated by reputation alone, and James’ season stats back up his case for a position. This year, he has a 25.1 point average, second only to Anthony Davis’s for the Lakers so far. His 7.5 assist average is the team’s best, and he also leads the way for steals with a 1.5 average.
It is a safe assumption that LeBron James will be an ALl-Star starter for the Western Conference team, alongside other game giants like Kevin Durant and Nikola Jokic.
Anthony Davis
If there is one current Laker who deserves a spot on the All-Star team ahead of LeBron James on merit, it is Anthony Davis. So far this season Davis leads the Lakers’ in terms of performance averages on points (25.7), Rebounds (12.2), Blocks (2.6), and minutes (36.2).
His performances this season have seen him being recognized by the support and he is only behind LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Nikola Jokic in fourth place in the first fan returns with 988,225 votes.
D’Angelo Russell
While Davis and James look like sure things to make the All-Star lineup, one Laker with an outside chance is D’Angelo Russell. His consistent performances this season see him posting a 14.6 point average, 6.1 assist average, and 0.5 block average.
It is unlikely this will be enough to get him there, but a couple of stand-out performances and enough fan support could cause a surprise.
Austin Reaves
Speaking of surprises, Austin Reaves making the top 10 in the Guard vote has raised a few eyebrows. After a poor start to the season, nobody could have predicted this. However, it shows the strength of character needed to survive in elite sports that he has gone on to become the Lakers’ leading bench scorer before regaining his starting spot.
Reaves’s season averages of 15.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 5.2 assists place him as one of the Laker’s top performers this season.
