The Los Angeles Lakers finished their week with a win at home against Pau Gasol and the Chicago Bulls, ending their nine-game losing skid. Of course, the news of Kobe Bryant’s season-ending injury (torn rotator cuff) took center stage. Bryant received surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be back at the start of next season (nine months).

Bryant surprised Gasol on Friday night when less than 24 hours after surgery he came to Staples Center to talk to his former teammate. In our videos below, Gasol receives a standing ovation from fans in his return and the two-time Laker champion also discusses the current state of the Lakers and his decision to leave for Chicago.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak also talked to the media this week and answered questions surrounding the NBA trade deadline, the NBA draft and NBA free agency.
