As many have heard former Lakers point guard and New York Knicks head coach, Derek Fisher, was arrested last weekend on suspicion of DUI. Accompanying him was his girlfriend, Gloria Govan, when the 2015 Cadillac Escalade they were driving in drifted off the side of the road and landed on its roof.

The SUV suffered severe damage, but fortunately Fisher and Govan were uninjured. Govan is the ex-wife of former Laker and current Golden State Warriors forward Matt Barnes and it is no secret that Fisher and Barnes have had their differences.

To make matters worse for Fisher, the Escalade he and Govan were in was registered to Barnes according to TMZ:

The SUV that Derek Fisher wrecked over the weekend in his DUI crash is registered to one Matthew K. Barnes… TMZ Sports has learned […] In fact, we’re told the Golden State Warriors star had given the Escalade to Gloria specifically “for the kids.”

The bad blood between the two stems back in October 2015 when Barnes found out Fisher was romancing his ex-wife. At the time Barnes and Govan were in the process of getting a divorce. Barnes, who at the time was member of the Memphis Grizzlies, drove to Govan’s house and confronted Fisher. The two fought each other but Fisher left before police could arrive.

Fisher was last in the NBA in February of 2016 when he was the head coach of the Knicks. He appeared on Spectrum SportsNet this past season as an in-studio analyst for Lakers games. Barnes is currently one win away from winning an NBA Championship as a member of the Golden State Warriors.

There is no telling when the tension between the two will fade, but as long as Fisher is dating Govan, which would mean Fisher would be around Barnes’ children, there are sure to be some uneasy times.
