Despite Kobe Bryant playing 44 minutes Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to come away with a victory against the Phoenix Suns. After the game, Lakers head coach Byron Scott pointed to defensive breakdowns and not getting as much as they would usually expect from the bench.

As far as Bryant shouldering the load, Scott knows Kobe won’t normally be playing 44 minutes, but he also knows Bryant wants to do whatever he can to win:

He plays every game like it’s his last game. That’s what you want,” Scott said after the game. “He’s going to do whatever he thinks he has to do for us to win a game. Everybody has to step up. It’s not just one or two guys, everybody has to step up.”

Scott thought the Lakers scoring balance was decent and also discusses what it was like to have Julius Randle at Tuesday’s shootaround. It’s all in our video above.
