Elgin Baylor played 13 seasons for the Minneapolis/Los Angeles Lakers, made it to 8 NBA Finals, is in the Basketball Hall of Fame and was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in National Basketball History. His accomplishments span over the entirety of his life, from his achievements as a young teen to his accolades as an NBA executive. After a long career, Baylor and his wife have decided to auction off over 1,000 items of memorabilia from his career on May 31st at Julien’s Auctions during Sports Legends weekend. Bids can be made on-site at Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills or online at JuliensAuction.com.

Lakers Nation took a sneak peak of Baylor’s overly impressive collection, and also had a chance to talk with him about his long career. From reminiscing about the over $20,000 the Lakers paid him after picking him No.1 in the 1958 draft, to being called to active duty in the early 1960’s, to having dinner with Bill Russell before Celtics games, check out our Lakers Nation exclusive below.
