VIDEO: Jeremy Lin, Byron Scott Discuss Possibility Of Starting

The Los Angeles Lakers nabbed their 18th win of the season on Sunday night against the Philadelphia 76ers with a season-high 29 points on 10-16 shooting from Jeremy Lin off the bench. Lin also had five rebounds and five assists to go along with one of his best nights as a Laker.

After the game, Lin credited big man Ed Davis, with what he believed to be the best performance of the game.

Ed did an unbelievable job protecting the rim. In a lot of ways, he was the most valuable player of this game.”

Ed Davis went 4-8 from the field to run his season percentage to 60.75% (243-400), eight field goals shy of qualifying for the NBA minimum. Davis also had 11 rebounds and blocked four shots, the seventh time in his career with at least four rejections and first as a Laker.

After the game, head coach Byron Scott said he was extremely impressed with Lin’s performance on both ends of the floor and is considering moving him into the starting lineup over the next couple games. Lin was asked about the possibility of starting after the game:

At this point, 60-70 games in, I’m just trying to stay focused on when I get put out there, I want to do what I’m supposed to do. I’d love to be in the starting lineup to answer your question, but that’s not up to me.”

The Lakers will practice on Monday morning, before hopping on a plane to Oklahoma City to take on the Thunder on Tuesday. Scott will miss the Lakers two upcoming games to remain in Southern California for the funeral of his mother. Lakers assistant coach Paul Pressey will serve as acting head coach in Scott’s absence. Scott is expected to re-join the team in Toronto for the remainder of the road trip.
