The Los Angeles Lakers lost their second preseason game on Thursday night to the Golden State Warriors, but Kobe Bryant said after the game that the preseason is more of a learning process than a gauge of where his team is at. With Steve Nash sidelined for precautionary reasons, one of the newest Lakers Jeremy Lin started alongside Kobe Bryant for the first time.

Lin, who had a rough shooting night in the Lakers first preseason game, shot off the rust in his second game, going 4-4 from the field in route to 14 points along with four assists.

After the game, Bryant said he thought Lin did well, but also revealed his challenge to the young point guard:

“I’m really going to challenge him to be a great defensive player, because he can,” Kobe said after the game. “He has the speed. He has the length, he has the size. He’s never had to take on that challenge, but I think he can be a great defensive player.”

Lin said in his past four years in the NBA, he’s never had someone take on a mentorship role to him like Bryant has. What does Lin think of the challenge? Check it all out in our video above.
