The Los Angeles Lakers dropped to 3-12 Wednesday night in a 99-93 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Up by five points at the half and playing solid basketball to start, the Lakers looked like they could leave Staples Center with a victory. Unfortunately for Los Angeles, lapses in the third quarter, ultimately lead to another loss.

Kobe Bryant took on the facilitator role in the first quarter, surprising most when his first shot attempt didn’t come until late in the second quarter. He still finished with 22 points, his 12th 20+ point game this season.

After the game, Bryant was asked about whether losing by such a small margin added to the frustration.

It’s just as frustrating, no matter how many times we lose, whether it’s by seven points or less.”

Bryant also discusses his offensive mentality in their matchup against the Grizzlies, which Bryant explains as “setting picks off the ball, getting guys open.” Hoping the Grizzlies defense would adjust to cover his teammates, Kobe was hoping for a couple of “wide open opportunities.”

The Los Angeles Lakers return to Staples Center Friday night to face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
