Of all the Lakers free agent signings, the one with arguably the most potential is Nick Young. Young has already proven to be a top level scorer capable of dropping 20-plus points on any given night.
Combining Young’s shooting ability with Mike D’Antoni’s system could be a match made in heaven and could elicit memories of Quentin Richardson or Joe Johnson back in D’Antoni’s days with the Phoenix Suns.

Yesterday, we saw Kobe getting his shots up as he recovers from his torn Achilles on a Pop-A-Shot game, and today the Lakers posted a video of Nick Young working out at the Lakers practice facility:

The Lakers undoubtedly will be needing Young to knock down shots like this regularly this season. With Pau Gasol also recovering from offseason surgery and uncertainty regarding what Steve Nash will give the Lakers this season, Young will be counted on to provide a provide a consistent scoring punch for the Lakers, whether he’s starting or coming off the bench.
Add in the fact that Kobe is looking to reduce his minutes from the ridiculous amount he has played the last couple seasons, and the spotlight shines even brighter on Young, as well as fellow free agent signee Wesley Johnson.
The Lakers lacked outside shooting last season, but with Young, Nash, Johnson, Jodie Meeks, and even rookie Ryan Kelly, the Lakers may have the weapons they need to light up the scoreboard this season.
