It won’t be long before Kobe Bryant’s career is over as he is set to take the court one last time for the Los Angeles Lakers against the Utah Jazz tonight. All season everyone across the NBA has been paying respects to Kobe and his shoe sponsor Nike released an outstanding new Kobe commercial entitled ‘The Conductor.’
The commercial starts with a very familiar sight, Kobe Bryant hitting a shot and breaking the hearts of opposing fans. One shouts out that he hates Kobe Bryant, which causes Kobe to stop and begin conducting all of the fans in singing a song about their hatred for Kobe.
The fans in the crowd were supporters of some of the team’s Bryant battled with throughout his years including the Sacramento Kings, Boston Celtics, and Detroit Pistons.
There were special appearances from a couple of Kobe’s most fierce rivals including Paul Pierce, who battled Kobe in two NBA Finals, and Rasheed Wallace, who faced off with Kobe and the Lakers multiple times as a member of the Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers.
Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss also appeared with Phil showing his vocal talents as part of the song also.
Kobe has always talked about how he loved being hated and silencing the fans who hated him. This Nike ad captures that while showing that even though fans hated him, they still had to respect him.
