VIDEO: Pau Gasol On Kobe’s NBA Rankings, Laughs Off Team Rank

After the Lakers played the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night, Pau Gasol was asked if he was planning to change his Twitter avatar to “29” to represent his recent NBA player ranking on ESPN.com. Of course, this was a segue into asking Gasol about Kobe Bryant changing his Twitter avatar to “1225,” which many have taken to represent ESPN ranking the Lakers to finish 12th in the West, and ranking Bryant the 25th best player in the NBA. Gasol didn’t have much to say about Bryant’s avatar, but he did give the media a good laugh when he was asked about the Lakers rankings this year, compared to last year.

“The rankings are done and it’s kind of like entertaining, give something to talk about but rankings are rankings and people will have their opinion we just have to come out…and prove people wrong”

But Pau, the rankings were pretty high last year…

“They were, and see where we ended!”

Point taken. Lakers were swept out of the playoffs last year, and ranked second best in the Western Conference. So, now that the Lakers are ranked 12th, what should we expect?
