Chris Paul Wouldn’t Sign With Celtics if Dealt to Boston

According to Chris Broussard of ESPN Boston, New Orleans Hornets guard Chris Paul wants nothing to do with the Boston Celtics.

Broussard’s sources have reportedly informed him that if dealt to Boston, Paul would refuse to sign an extension. This would ultimately make him a rental player, and considering the price the Celtics would have to give up to trade for him it makes a Chris Paul-to-Boston move unlikely. According to sources, the Celtics were looking to build a package around point guard Rajon Rondo to offer New Orleans for Paul.

This comes as a positive sign for other teams that are interested in adding Paul to their roster. The two most popular choices for Paul seem to be the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers. There has been speculation of Paul traveling to New York to join Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire to create a super-team that would rival the one in Miami.

However, recently another contender in the Paul sweepstakes appears to have emerged. Multiple rumors surfaced yesterday, the main one by ESPN’s Ric Bucher, stating that the Los Angeles Clippers might be trying to put together a deal to bring in Paul.
