The Los Angeles Lakers backcourt combination of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves is one of the most talented in the entire NBA. While some questions remain about just how good of a fit they are, particularly on the defensive end, they proved last season that they can absolutely shred opponents offensively with their combination of ball-handling, creation, shooting and high basketball IQ.
Training camp will soon begin for their first full season together with the Lakers and both have been putting in work to be ready for this year. Doncic’s dominance was on full display during the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 tournament, meanwhile the Lakers recently posted some photos of Reaves working out at the team’s practice facility.
Doncic enjoyed seeing Reaves preparing for the season, but one thing he wasn’t a fan of was Reaves’ hair. In fact, in response to the social media post, the Lakers’ superstar guard asked his teammate to get a haircut, via NBA on Prime:

Reaves has clearly let his hair grow out during the offseason, but now that the season is nearing, it sounds as if Doncic wants his backcourt partner to clean up and lock in. This is set to be an extremely important season for both as they look to get the Lakers back into championship contention.
For Luka, this is his first full season with the franchise and he was in midseason form during EuroBasket, even showing off an improved effort on defense. He is clearly the face of the Lakers now after signing a max contract extension and is embracing that role as a leader on this team.
Reaves, on the other hand, will be looking to build on a career year and earn a new contract next offseason. He was a borderline All-Star last year and could make a real push this season if he takes another step in his development and there is no doubt he will continue to do everything possible to have the best year of his career.
Rob Pelinka open to roster moves after Luka Doncic’s EuroBasket performance
As it currently stands, most view the Lakers as being a level below the top championship contenders, but with a move or two they could take that leap. And apparently, after witnessing how good Luka Doncic looked at EuroBasket, Rob Pelinka is more willing to make those necessary moves in the present.
