Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has set a number of records during his 23-year NBA career with the most notable being the scoring record. He passed another Lakers legend in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in 2022 and has added on to his total ever since.
As James continues to play at a high level at age 41, he is continuing to break more and more records.
He went into Thursday night’s game against the Denver Nuggets needing three field goals to again pass Abdul-Jabbar for the most in NBA history in the regular season. He tied him by catching a sweet alley-oop from Luka Doncic in the first quarter and then passed him by hitting a midrange jumper:

Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 15,837 field goals seemed like something that would never been broken at the time, but the same could be said for the scoring record that James has now shattered.
Considering he has set almost every record now, LeBron’s career will go down as one of the most historic not only in basketball, but all of sports.
His future beyond this season remains undecided, but it’s possible that he returns for another season to continue running up all his totals so no one will ever pass him. James’ combination of greatness and longevity in the NBA is unmatched and likely never will be.
LeBron James humbled to pass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for most minutes
Last season, LeBron James passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most minutes in NBA history, another record the Lakers star said he was humbled to break.
“Like I said, it’s a pretty cool honor. Obviously anytime I’m linked with some of the greats that have played this game and to know that I’ve been available to my teammates, to know that I’ve been able to do this at a high level for two decades and continue to put myself in record books in this game of basketball that I love so much in the best league in the world, it’s pretty cool and it’s very humbling.”
