The Los Angeles Dodgers did what no team has done in Major League Baseball for a quarter-century by winning back-to-back World Series titles. The last team to do so was the New York Yankees, who won three in a row from 1998-2000. The Dodgers — owned by new L.A. Lakers owner Mark Walter — have been a juggernaut in baseball for over a decade, and now have a dynasty cemented.

The Dodgers secured their title on Saturday, Nov. 1 in Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays. It was one of the most dramatic and memorable World Series in recent history. They celebrated with a parade in Los Angeles on Monday, and were in attendance at the Lakers game against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.

The Lakers and Dodgers have always heavily been in support of one another, but that’s even more magnified now with the same majority ownership group. And the Lakers had a video prepared to honor the Dodgers for bringing another championship to the city of Los Angeles:

The video depicts the final outs of the World Series, a frantic double play for superstar shortstop Mookie Betts, followed by fan reaction and parade footage. The Lakers then introduced all of the Dodgers players in attendance at the game, including Betts, Alex Call, Evan Phillips, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, Teoscar Hernandez, and Will Smith.

Smith, the Dodgers longtime star catcher, hit the game-winning home run in the top of the 11th inning in Game 7.

The Lakers also gave the Dodgers players in attendance a show, defeating Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs 118-116 in a game that went down to the final seconds. It was the Lakers fifth consecutive win to put them at 7-2 on the season.

Luka Doncic enjoying playing with Lakers roster

The Lakers are off to an incredible and surprising start to the 2025-26 season. They are 7-2 and have won five consecutive games, something that’s already impressive when looking at the quality of teams they’ve played. But it’s even more astounding when accounting for LeBron James missing all nine games, Luka Doncic missing four and Austin Reaves missing two.

Doncic has been stellar in his five games played so far this year, averaging a ridiculous 40.0 points, 11.8 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game. He looks like the perennial MVP candidate that the Lakers knew they were getting when they traded for him from the Dallas Mavericks last season.

The Lakers superstar spoke about how he’s been playing so far this season and how the team continues to prevail despite being shorthanded.

Ron began watching basketball when he was 6 years old, in 2005, when Bryant was dragging the likes of Smush Parker and Ronny Turiaf to playoff spots. Ron's all time favorite Lakers moment was Bryant's final game when he dropped 60 points. While the Lakers beating the Celtics in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, as Metta World Peace hit the game clinching three, will always be a top option, Bryant's final night takes the cake.
