Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis will forever be linked as part of the most shocking trade in NBA history when the Dallas Mavericks sent the superstar guard to the Los Angeles Lakers last season.
The deal caused an absolute uproar throughout the basketball world as no one could believe the trade was real and it made Doncic’s return to Dallas late last season one of the most anticipated regular season games in recent NBA memory. He dropped 45 points in that game, which was an emotional night for him and the fans.
There remains at least a bit of tension between Luka and the Mavericks organization, but between he and Davis, the two primary pieces of the trade, there is nothing but love.
This was seen after the Lakers’ preseason game with the Mavericks as Doncic and Davis were seen meeting up at half-court and giving each other a big hug before joking and laughing together.

Both Doncic and Davis were completely blindsided by the trade, so there really shouldn’t be any sort of tension or issues between them. And both players have taken on the role as the leader of their new teams looking to push them into championship contention.
Because of the trade, there will always be a little something extra any time the Lakers and Mavericks face off. Even in the preseason, with Doncic sitting out no less, there is just a little bit of a different energy and even Luka himself admitted that he will always feel something when facing off with his former team.
But that energy is reserved for the teams as a whole and even more so from Doncic towards the higher ups in the Mavericks organization. But between Davis and Doncic, the issues are non-existent and the two All-Stars can easily continue to show love as two of the best players in the game today.
Lakers’ Luka Doncic named Community Ambassador for LA World Cup 2026 Host Committee
Both Los Angeles and Dallas will be one of 16 host cities throughout North America for the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place next summer. And the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee announced that Lakers superstar guard Luka Doncic will be an Official Community Ambassador.
Doncic will work alongside fellow community ambassadors, Lakers legend Magic Johnson as well as Cobi Jones and Eva Longoria while hip-hop icon and Lakers superfan Snoop Dogg was announced as Community Chairman.
