Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson has plenty to be happy about nowadays as several of the teams he is a minority owner of are in the hunt for championships.

Johnson, like the rest of Los Angeles, has been locked in on the 2025 MLB Playoffs where the Los Angeles Dodgers have been steamrolling the competition.

The Dodgers were able to beat the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Round before playing the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Divisional Series. The Dodgers emerged victorious and Johnson congratulated the team on clinching the NLDS title.

The Dodgers continued their postseason domination, sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series and advancing to the World Series. Johnson made sure to congratulate his team and also marveled at the greatness of Shohei Ohtani, via his personal X account:

Cookie and I would like to congratulate @Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts, the entire coaching staff, players, organization, all the owners, and last but not least the most incredible fan base on the planet – Dodgers fans, for making it to the World Series!

— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) October 18, 2025

We’ve seen a baseball player hit three HRs in a Playoff game and we’ve seen a pitcher throw a two hitter and 10 strikeouts in a Playoff game – but we’ve never seen one player do both like Shohei Ohtani did tonight!

— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) October 18, 2025

Dodger Nation, Cookie and I just witnessed one of the greatest baseball players that’s ever lived, Shohei Ohtani, hit three HRs and pitch a two hitter with 10 strikeouts in the @Dodgers 5-1 victory over the Brewers tonight to advance to the World Series!

— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) October 18, 2025

The Dodgers’ starting pitching was the talk of the series as Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and Ohtani all delivered masterful performances. Ohtani closed out Game 4, pitching 6.0 innings and striking out 10 batters without giving up a run. He also supplied three home runs in what might be considered the greatest individual playoff performance of all time.

While the Dodgers will be favored in the World Series, the Los Angeles Lakers will be looking to make their own mark during the 2025-26 season. Los Angeles and Johnson have to feel blessed to have sports franchises worth rooting for.

Tyson Chandler compares Luka Doncic to Magic Johnson

The Lakers have their own international superstar in Luka Doncic who looks like he’s ready to start the season. Doncic’s game has drawn comparisons to many greats, with Tyson Chandler recently comparing him to Magic Johnson.
